Predicting the future. Is it a gift?

How I wish I have the gift of Nostradamus so that I can predict the future.  I want to know the future so that I can prepare myself and my loved ones in the uncertainties of this world, Like this Covid19 pandemic for instance, If I knew this would happen, I would have saved enough money, stocked more groceries, and bought all the medical supplies to survived me for a year.

Looking back at my life, there were so many failures and pains that I've been through, I wished I would have prevented it. If I knew I will be involved in a vehicle accident when I was six, I would have never left the house. If I knew that I will be involved in a painful relationship, I would have taken a different path. And If I knew that it was the last day of my dad on this earth, I would have spent more time with him before his last breath. If I knew the future, there will be no more what ifs.

However, if I knew what will happen in the future, what will be my present life will look like? If I already knew my tomorrows, what will I do today? If everyday is predictable, our NOW is no longer important and TOMORROW will no longer excites us.

Now I realized that its not really important to know the future. I thought that Nostradamus is lucky to have such special gift, but now I believe that it is a gift that we do not know what the future is in store for us. If we knew our future, life will no longer excites us. We will no longer rely on God and our faith would not be necessary.

Life is an adventure, how we live each day of our lives will shape our future. Our future is dependent on our NOW. Not knowing our future scares most of us but whatever our future brings us, it will always have a purpose. Yes, sometimes its painful but once we get through that pain, we will understand everything and we will appreciate the lessons of our struggles.

Remember this, God will never hurt us. He knows what is best for us.

Dad, you are the best father ever

When I was young you taught me how to read and rhyme, And showed me laughter under the smiling sunshine. I remember that day when I stumbled with pain But you carried me in you arms and the pain was gone. You taught me the meaning of respect, to other beings and to thyself You modeled these traits not only in thy words but by actions on oneself You taught me responsibility to thy spouse and to our dynasty You modeled these through thy affection to my mother and members of our family The greatest kings have conquered the strongest nation But believe me; no king is greater than your affection. As you leave this world we know But the love you’ve showed in my heart entombed Today I may be sad because you said goodbye For the angels in heaven took your soul up in the sky If mothers are the best, fathers are the greatest. Thank you for your fatherly love, it was the best. . Image Source: Wikipedia

Independence when there is no freedom

The Philippines is celebrating today its 122nd  Independence day.  Today we remember how our forefathers claimed their freedom from the Spaniards who enslaved them for almost 333 years. Thanks to our national hero Jose Rizal, who sparked the hearts of the Filipinos through his provoking novels. This eventually inspired a revolution which then gave birth to our first republic in 1889.  Today, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we are locked at our homes and we have no freedom to move. As a result, we are deprived to work and earn a living. We are deprived to travel, to gather, and to celebrate. Our lives have so many restrictions. This was the same experience of our forefathers when their freedom was taken away from them by the Spaniards. Good thing this Covid 19 is only temporary. Once the vaccine is commercially available, our lives will soon return to normal and our freedom will be restored. Imagine if this quarantine is permanent, people will became restless, agitated and pr...
