Predicting the future. Is it a gift?

How I wish I have the gift of Nostradamus so that I can predict the future.  I want to know the future so that I can prepare myself and my loved ones in the uncertainties of this world, Like this Covid19 pandemic for instance, If I knew this would happen, I would have saved enough money, stocked more groceries, and bought all the medical supplies to survived me for a year.  Looking back at my life, there were so many failures and pains that I've been through, I wished I would have prevented it. If I knew I will be involved in a vehicle accident when I was six, I would have never left the house. If I knew that I will be involved in a painful relationship, I would have taken a different path. And If I knew that it was the last day of my dad on this earth, I would have spent more time with him before his last breath. If I knew the future, there will be no more what ifs.   However, if I knew what will happen in the future, what will be my present life wil...

The Story of a Dead Rat

One morning I was awakened by the sound of crying kittens inside my house. I wondered where that sound came from since I cannot recall bringing a cat inside my house. Upon checking, I saw three little kittens cuddling among themselves in one corner of my porch. Their mother must have left them to search for food. Honestly, I am not a fan of cats. I had a bad history with cats when I was I child. Since then, I never saw myself owning one. That’s why that morning, I was figuring out how to transfer those kittens away from my house. However, seeing those cute little creatures made my heart melt and I just decided to keep them for a few weeks or until such time they are strong enough to leave my property. One night, I went home late from work. As I approached our main door, I was greeted by a foul smell coming from the porch where the kittens lived. I checked it out and I saw a dead rat rested right beside the kittens. The mother cat must have collected and stored it for food. I w...

Do not worry.

This morning I woke up with a heavy heart. These past few days, I was down and feeling troubled. I felt that things were not going the way I envisioned it to be. I felt everything was not working as planned despite my efforts. I felt frustrated and tired. I also felt that people around me are also not appreciating the efforts that I have put into my work. As a result I felt doubt in myself and I can no longer see the value of what I am doing. I am worried about my present and my future. As I get out of my bed, I sat down near my bedroom window and I cannot stop from staring at the bright blue sky. It was so beautiful! So I went outside our house and a cold morning breeze greeted my face. The wind was cold but I felt warmth in my heart. I once again looked at the sky and I finally realized that this world is such a beauty! Then I realized that my life wasn't bad at all. Actually I am blessed for I am still alive and still experiencing the beauty of God's creation. Life may...

Where Can We Find the Truth?

Image Source: Wikipedia In the book “Boiling Point” by Gorge Barna and Mark Hatch, many individuals who call themselves Christians were having difficulty answering the following questions: Did Jesus ever sinned? Was Jesus truly resurrected? Do all religions teach the same basic ideas about God and spirituality? These authors made a survey among professing believers; the survey focused on answering the three (3) questions mentioned earlier. The results are quite alarming. One-fourth said Jesus committed sins, one-third said He did not rise from the dead, and another one-third said all religions are basically the same. The above results are a bit scary for it reflect a serious lack of biblical understanding since the answers to these questions are clearly available in the Scriptures as listed below: Jesus didn’t sin: 2 Cor. 5:21; Heb. 4:15; 1 Pet. 1:19; 2:22 Jesus was resurrected: John 20-21; 1 Cor. 15: 1-20 Jesus is the only way to God: John 14:6; Act...

Feeling Worthless?

Image Source Have you ever felt useless and unimportant? And felt that what you’re doing in life is boring and insignificant? Better snap out of it because you are not worthless. You are an important worker of God. You are tasked to build His Church, and to protect it from corrosion. Most of us do not exactly understand our life purpose. Our goals in life are influenced by the norms of society like to finish a college degree; to establish a successful career; to acquire various estates; to become rich; and the likes. Normal goals are material-based because this is what our culture dictates. If we cannot comply with these norms, we are considered failures and will be classified as unsuccessful individuals. This world is constantly throwing intricate situations and modern society is emitting complex pressures on average Christians every minute of the day.  Those who cannot race these complexities will end up weary, insecure, and worthless. Our priorities are shift...
